Symptoms of low testosterone in females may include but not limited to decreased libido, decreased muscle tone, thinning skin, ringing in ears, aches and pains, bone loss, aging, stress, morning fatigue, difficulty sleeping, decreased stamina, anxiousness, irritability, nervousness, fibromyalgia (muscle/joint pain), allergies, headaches, sugar cravings, and dizzy spells.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We let symptoms and past medical history guide treatment plans and not just your labs. We use bio-identical hormone replacement and keep everything stocked in the clinic. We are not a testosterone pellet clinic as those are not FDA approved for women but rather use testosterone injections or creams. Your labs will be monitored every 8 weeks until stable or symptoms have improved. We can help with injections in the clinic or we can teach you or another person how to perform weekly injections. Many of the other hormone replacement options are available in pill such as progesterone, DIM, or estradiol.

  • This all varies depending on the person, but anyone should give hormone or supplement replacement a good 6 months to feel its fullest potential.

  • There can be if injections are not done properly. Soreness at injection sites is common. If injection doesn’t get into the muscle there is a potential risk for skin site reactions such as rash, bruising, welts or pain.

  • Hormone based creams can be prescribed but sometimes are more expensive and not as effective. We also supply patients with the smallest size needle possible.

  • In some cases, yes but every patient is different. If there is a strong family history of cancers or personal cancers, getting a blessing from an OB is preferred. Abnormal labs such as kidney or liver dysfunction, uncontrolled hypertension, or blood clotting disorders can affect treatment options. It should also be known that if on birth control, hormone replacement is challenging and many times the birth control alone could be causing imbalances and symptoms. We have caught many cases in which women are told but they are on hormone free birth control, yet their estrogen levels come back abnormally high, causing estrogen dominance and sometimes genetic risks if cancers run in the family.
