There are two potential causes of low testosterone Primary (testicular) or Secondary (central nervous system/pituitary gland in the brain) hypogonadism. Our clinic also monitors FSH & LH hormones to determine the potential root cause of lowered testosterone but clinical diagnosis isn’t needed to treat as we aren’t controlled by insurance companies.

Men can also suffer from estrogen imbalances causing mood, weight, and prostate changes. Our clinic also will check prolactin levels to make sure you’re not at higher risk for gynecomastia (male breasts) or even male breast cancer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We take this into consideration and can run separate labs on request to guide those specific patients. Evolve also uses HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) to help encourage the body's natural production of testosterone. Other benefits of using HCG with testosterone injections include decrease in negative feedback system and up regulation of hormones, help prevent atrophy of scrotum, infertility, increase cognition, maintenance of penial size and sensitivity, and can increase free testosterone.

  • All patients go through detailed medical history and a lab panel to make sure they would be safe for treatment.

  •  In rare cases yes, this may include kidney or liver injuries, prostate antigen levels being elevated, uncontrolled hypertension or blood clotting disorders.

  •  Everyone is different and as you begin treatment, we monitor labs and symptoms about every 8 weeks until stable. Giving it a real try we recommend giving treatment for at least 6 months.

  • All the testosterones can be performed in the office or at home for no additional charge. Testosterone injections are to be injected into a muscle tissue such as the deltoid, hamstring (thigh), or glute. These are usually prescribed once or twice a week. Rare cases may need micro dosing. HCG is injected into any fatty tissue and most prefer the stomach once weekly.

  • There can be if injections are not done properly. Soreness at injection sites is common. If injection doesn’t get into the muscle there is a potential risk for skin site reactions such as rash, bruising, welts or pain. However our clinic is available to help guide you and will provide in person and written instructions.

  • This is a myth that has scared men away from treatment. Prostate cancer is not caused by doing testosterone treatment however this is why our clinic monitors PSA levels. Certain cancers grow more quickly if you feed them hormones. So, if you already have an elevated PSA or at high risk, we prefer your PCP or urologist give us written permission to proceed with treatment.

  • Hormone based creams can be prescribed but sometimes are more expensive and not as effective. We also supply patients with the smallest size needle possible.

  • Just like all medications if not taken as prescribed there can be risks. This is why using a clinic to monitor labs and symptoms is always recommended. Testosterone injections can if not taken properly increase the thickness of the blood which may increase one's risk for heart attack or stroke.
